At the beginning of August, we added a new activity to our weekly schedule at EWI. One of our staffers, Holli Mack, began teaching sign language classes to all our individuals who wanted to participate. Not only have our individuals and staff excelled in their learning abilities, they quickly began using American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate with one another. “It’s so much fun to watch the individuals and staff communicate with one another in NEW and additional ways than what they’ve been used to”, says Holli Mack. We have had such a positive response from all those learning, that we’ll be continuing with weekly classes in ASL. Be sure to ask your loved one what they’re learning with ASL, and I bet they’ll be happy to tell you… in more ways than one.
