The Need

As parents…

We became concerned about the services available to improve and progress the quality of life for our adult children when we can no longer provide care in our home.

As educators…

We became concerned about the limited options available to our students once they leave the school system.

As a community…

We became concerned about the ways we can contribute to the emotional, financial, social, spiritual, residential, and vocational needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. As such, Eagles’ Wings of Tuscaloosa was born to address each of these needs and fulfill our dream.

The Dream

As parents…

We dreamed of a family-style campus where our adult children will be cared for by professionally trained, dedicated caregivers and of a place where our adult children’s emotional, physical, social, spiritual, and vocational needs will be met.

As educators…

We dreamed of vocational opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to gain independence and work ethics through meaningful employment, and of a workplace where each adult may be productive, no matter their level of ability.

As a community…

We dreamed of the privilege to serve individuals with developmental disabilities and their families and of the opportunity to contribute financially, emotionally, and spiritually to the well-being of each individual.

How We Help

How We Help

Residential Services

Eagles’ Wings moved to its current location on 96.34 acres in Coker, AL in November 2013. The community currently consists of:

  • A 7,200 square foot multi-purpose building
  • Two commercial greenhouses
  • Two residences under construction; 95% and 30% complete.
  • Gift Shop open to the public.

Vocational Services

Enrichment opportunities created specifically for adult residents and day habilitation attendees will be provided through civic and social situations, such as:

  • Therapeutic horticultural projects
  • Recycling for local businesses
  • Job-related skills training
  • Life skills coaching

Community Services

Services are offered with the intent to develop independent living skills and provide opportunities for job training in order to gain meaningful employment and live in a family-style environment. Professionally trained staff will ensure the safety of all residents who have disabilities that:

  • are attributable to a mental or physical impairment
  • were manifested before the age of 22
  • are likely to continue indefinitely
  • result in functional limitations in life activities
  • reflect the person’s need for support in a supervised environment
